BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Jurors in Birmingham have convicted a woman of capital murder in the killing of a man who has been missing since 1995.

The jury returned the verdict Friday against 42-year-old Tricia Abney. She was charged with killing 23-year-old Justin Barnett 22 years ago.

Al.com reports the investigation went cold for years until Abney’s brother, Johnathan Abney, went to police with new information in 2015. Barnett disappeared the night of June 3, 1995.

Johnathan Abney testified that after returning to a home he shared with his sister and her boyfriend he saw Barnett’s dismembered corpse in a bathroom. He says he then went with his sister and her boyfriend to dispose of the body.

The boyfriend later killed himself. Johnathan Abney wasn’t charged, and the body has never been found.
