Goecker places first

PAOLI

Trinity Lutheran’s A.J. Goecker placed first in the boys race in the Paoli invitational Thursday with a time of 18:29.

Trinity had two runners in the girls’ race as Jodi Goecker was 8th and Abby Hildreth was 36th.

BOYS SOCCER

Owls shell Shawe

MADISON

Seymour peppered Shawe Memorial with 34 shots in a 7-1 Owls win Thursday.

The Owls (11-2-1) led 2-1 at the half, giving up a lone goal off a penalty kick.

Daniel Hartman and Tyler Penegar each scored two goals while Blaine Spivey, Brayan Morales and Carter Hendrix each registered one.

Assists went to Hartman, Penegar, Payton Reasoner, Charlie Galyen and Keegan Sunbury.

The Owls limited the Hilltoppers to three shots, and Elliott Clark recorded two saves in goal.

SHS will play at Columbus North on Tuesday.

VOLLEYBALL

Braves register win

AUSTIN

Brownstown Central had an easy time improving its Mid-Southern Conference record to 6-1 with a 25-7, 25-14, 25-15 win Thursday at Austin.

The Braves featured a strong attacking game with 41 kills with Keeli Darlage and Claire Pace both having 11 kills and Grace Jaynes had 88.

Madisen Polly and Riley Nuss were both 14-14-4 in serves as the Braves served 12 aces.

The Braves (15-10) will be home to Seymour on Tuesday night.

Hornets fall in three

ORLEANS

Orleans defeated Medora 25-15, 25-10, 25-18 on Thursday.

Kailen Flynn led the Hornets with four aces and Katie Beesley led the attack with four kills.

The Hornets (6-11) play at Cannelton tonight.
