HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The man involved in a shooting at a Hattiesburg bar has died.

Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem identified the man as 40-year-old Bryan Wright, of Petal. She says Wright’s body will be sent to the State Crime Lab in Jackson for an autopsy.

WDAM-TV reports Police Chief Anthony Parker says it began about 1:17 a.m. Saturday. Multiple patrons reported hearing at least 10 to 15 shots fired by a person in a truck in the bar’s front parking lot. Parker says one of his officers, who were responding to a report of an accident, returned fire. Klem says she saw at least one bullet wound.

Parker says the man was shooting randomly in the air.

No other injuries were reported.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation.
