HOOVER, Ala. — An Alabama man has been sentenced to four consecutive life sentences following his conviction on several charges related to the sexual assault of a young family member.

AL.com reports that 39-year-old Brian Keith King was convicted of four counts of rape and four counts of sodomy in June and sentenced Monday. He also received a 10-year sentence for unlawful possession of marijuana.

King was arrested in October 2016 following a two-month investigation by the Hoover Police Department’s Special Victims Unit. Capt. Gregg Rector described the case as “emotional” for the department, and expressed satisfaction with the sentence.

The department hasn’t publicly disclosed many details about the relationship between King and the victim, given the girl’s age and the nature of the crimes.
