MESA, Ariz. — Mesa police have detained the parents of a woman and her baby who have been missing since June in a possible custodial interference case.

Police say Roland Jones and his wife Cassandra were preparing to board a plane Wednesday morning at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Their destination wasn’t disclosed.

Police have submitted charges to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, alleging conspiracy to commit interference by Jones and his wife.

Their 19-year-old daughter Madeline Jones and 1-year-old grandson William Jones-Gouchenour were reported missing June 16 by Roland Jones.

The parents are accused of giving false and misleading information to police.

Police believe the parents were aware that the father of the child had been granted joint custody and allegedly helped their daughter deny her ex-husband access to his baby boy.
