PAWTUCKET, R.I. — The Senate Finance Committee is continuing to review a proposal to build a new stadium for the Pawtucket Red Sox but it limited the length of its next hearing.

The committee is meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the William E. Tolman High School in Pawtucket.

It’s the second hearing to review legislation to provide a $23 million state investment to help finance the estimated $83 million stadium in Pawtucket.

The committee says it’s limited to four hours due to the venue’s time constraints.

The Providence Journal reports some stadium opponents say they’re skipping the meeting because they’re frustrated they had to wait hours to speak at the first hearing earlier this month.

Pawtucket city officials plan to give an hourlong presentation about the impact and risks to the city.
