CHANDLER, Ariz. — Chandler police say a 13-year-old student was arrested at his junior high school after authorities learned he had a revolver and a box of ammunition in his backpack.

Police say the seventh-grader at San Tan Junior High School didn’t threaten anyone at the school or brandish the gun before he was taken into custody Tuesday.

The teen was booked into a juvenile detention facility on suspicion of misconduct involving weapons, carrying a concealed weapon and disruption of an educational facility.

Police say the boy got the gun from his home.

Prior to his arrest, boy was pushed by another student.

The teen then allegedly told another boy that he had a gun in his backpack.

That student told a teacher who reported it to the school’s safety officer.
