JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Authorities say a municipal official brandished a loaded handgun when police forced their way into his home to arrest him on child porn charges.

Ocean County prosecutors say 29-year-old Anthony Marano didn’t answer the door when police arrived at his Jackson Township home Tuesday. They say he instead went to a bedroom and soon came out with the gun in his hand as officers confronted him inside the residence.

Marano eventually put down the weapon after repeated demands by the officers and was arrested without further incident. Prosecutors say the gun was loaded with a round in the chamber.

Marano was charged with aggravated assault and possessing and distributing child porn. It wasn’t known Wednesday if he’s retained an attorney.
