Dr. Conrad Haydn Galloway, 87, Seymour, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017, with family at his side. His wife Rachel of 67 years survives.

He was born August 27, 1930 to Golda and Wayne Galloway, Needmoore, Indiana. He married Rachel Ann Box Galloway on March 25, 1950.

He was preceded in death by his sister Betty Rose Whitehead, and his brother James Handel Galloway.

Survivors include his two sons, Scott H. Galloway (Marguerite) of Brownstown, and Craig L. (Kim Christopher) of Seymour.

Other survivors include four grandchildren: Mandy Galloway Reinhart (Kevin) of Indianapolis, Chad Galloway (Kimberly) of Indianapolis, Nicole Galloway Halpern (Jeremy) of Tampa, Florida, Morgan Galloway of Seymour, and 5 great grandchildren.

He began his career in education teaching and coaching at Newport. Dr. Galloway was Superintendent of Schools in Seymour from 1973 to 1983, and also was Superintendent of Schools at (5) other school corporations, retiring as Superintendent of Washington Township Schools in Indianapolis.

He was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash (Indiana) and the Kentucky Colonel awards for his life-long commitment to the education of children.

Dr. Galloway was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seymour, the Seymour Elks Lodge 462, the Seymour Country Club, and the Masonic Lodge in Seymour.

A casual service will be held Monday, October 2 at 11:30 at the Central Christian Church, 1434 W. 2nd Street, Seymour. Dinner will follow at the church. The internment will be in Bedford, Indiana for family.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, or of the donor’s choice.
