William Larry Parker, 78, of Brownstown, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown.

Parker was a member of the Brownstown Church of the Nazarene, where he held various church offices and loved helping with church activities. He was also a member of the church choir and a Sunday School teacher for 50 years.

Parker was employed with Cummins Engine Co. for 35 years. He was a member of the Gideons and a life-time member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, riding his motorcycle, riding horses and mowing his yard.

Born on May 20, 1939, he was the son of Bain William “Bill” and Beulah K. Hanner Parker, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 15, 1957, he married Ruth L. Fleetwood and she survives in Brownstown.

Survivors also include one son: Larry (Paula) Parker of Brownstown; two daughters: Elaine (Mark) Aikman of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Kim (Jeff) Said of Swayzee; stepmother, Dell Parker; grandchildren: Clint (Andrea) Parker, Dr. Eric (Megan) Parker, Jeremy Akin, Amy (Brian) Stermer, Brent Tiemeier, Blake Tiemeier, Braydon Tiemeier and Blair Said; great grandchildren: Olivia Parker, Mia Aikman, Parker Akin, Madison Albertson, J.T. Albertson, Emma Stermer, Eli Tiemeier, Lily Tiemeier, Peyton Tiemeier and Bentley Tiemeier; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services for William Larry Parker will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene, with Tim Lichtley officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be at Kurtz Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Brownstown Church of the Nazarene and Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary.
