WALDORF, Md. — Maryland police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Waldorf.

Police say the incident occurred at about 5:45 a.m. on Saturday when a pedestrian tried to cross Route 228 east of Western Parkway and was fatally struck. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is still under investigation.
