Beck’s Mill 5K run/walk to raise money for gristmill

Beck’s Mill will host The Grind 5K Run/Walk starting at 9 a.m. on Oct. 4 to benefit the maintenance of the 200-year-old grist mill in Salem.

Beck’s Mill was almost in ruins after sitting idle for more than 50 years until it was fully restored by the late Bill Cook and his wife, Gayle, Pritchett Brothers with Ridgeway Architecture, many volunteers and donations.

Funds from this benefit will help preserve Beck’s Mill’s future.

Early registration fees until Sept. 30 are $12, and late registration fees are $20. For a T-shirt, order before Sept. 30 to ensure the correct size. Add $5 for sizes small to XL and $7 for XXL.

Race day registration will be available starting at 7:30 a.m. with packet pickup.

The event begins and ends at Beck’s Mill. It is an out-and-back road course with a hill challenge out of the start, becoming slightly rolling and ending with a fast downhill finish.

For online registration and a printable mail form, visit indianatiming.com, mag7raceseries.com or becksmill.org or search for The Grind Run/Walk Road Race at Beck’s Mill on Facebook.
