Public library announces book discussion groups

Jackson County Public Library book discussion groups plan to gather to discuss book themes, writing styles, characters and more this month at the Seymour, Crothersville and Medora libraries.

The groups are open to adults, and there is no attendance requirement. The books are available to check out at the library checkout desks.

The Friday Night Book Club will discuss its monthly book at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at Captain D’s, 831 E. Tipton St., Seymour. Julie Lingerfelt, head of adult services, will lead the review of “The Haunting of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson. Everyone attending should bring money if they plan to eat. Sign up for the program as you check out the book from the checkout desk.

The book discussion group at the Crothersville Library, which meets on the third Wednesday of each month, will gather and share thoughts on “The Red Tent” by Anita Diamant at 6 p.m. Oct. 18.

Fantastic Fiction will discuss “The Poisonwood Bible” by Barbara Kingsolver at 11 a.m. Oct. 20 at the Seymour Library. Led by volunteers Ann Schwein and Sharon Kamman, this group meets on the third Friday of each month.

The Medora Library book discussion group will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 23 to talk about “Turkey Day Murder” by Leslie Meier. The group meets on the fourth Monday of each month.
