Willard Ray Freeman, 86, of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center. He was born on November 30, 1930, in Medora, to the late Urby and Olean (Shelton) Freeman.

He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour. On April 17, 1954, he married Mary Louise McClintock at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Medora, she preceded him in death on May 5, 2017. He retired after several years with Force Construction where he was a concrete finisher. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed refinishing and woodworking, playing card games, and was known for his whistling. He was the oldest active dartball player in Jackson County.

Ray is survived by his sons, Roland (Carol) Freeman and Randy (Lisa) Freeman; daughters, Tonja (David) Blish and Marlene (Don) Ruwe; 9 grandchildren, David (Tiffany) Blish, Clint (Rachel) Blish, Trevor Blish, Will Freeman, Brent Freeman, Sam Freeman, Lee Freeman, Lynn Robbins, and Carey (Beth) Ruwe; several great and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Freeman.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Mary Freeman; and brothers, Harry Freeman, Ralph Freeman, Bernard ‘Sandy’ Freeman, and Glenn Freeman.

Funeral services will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday, October 12, at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 11 am, with Revs. Andrew Currao and Joseph Barlau officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Wednesday from 4-8 pm and at the church on Thursday from 10 am until time of service.
