The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees adopted the 2018 budget at its regular meeting Monday at the Seymour Library.

The 2018 operating fund budget is $2,373,286 with a preliminary tax rate of $0.1049. The state board of accounts will set the rate later this fall.

Personnel committee chairman Bob Mahan distributed director evaluation forms. Board members should complete the forms and return them to him via mail by Nov. 10.

Circulation manager Christina Hime gave a report on her duties out of the Seymour Library. Hime is in charge of checkout desks in Seymour, Crothersville and Medora.

The board approved 2018 board meeting dates; 2018 closing dates; health, life, vision and dental insurance rates effective Dec. 1; and changes to the meeting space and property and building use policies, personnel appointments and a Food for Fines promotion April 9 through 22, 2018.

Board President Josh Bartley appointed Kathy Ellis (chairwoman), Susan Haskett and Tammy Koerner to the nominating committee. The committee will submit a slate of officers at the November meeting for a December election.

The board’s next meeting is at 5 p.m. Nov. 20.
