Bethany Baptist Church celebrating new pastors

0

The congregation of Bethany Baptist Church invites the public to help celebrate and welcome the arrival of two new pastors — the Rev. Troy Burns and the Rev. Michael Payne — and their families at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church, 9511 E. County Road 800S, Crothersville.

The celebration features a “Chilly Supper” and weather-permitting a hayride, or a movie if it rains.

Burns attended Bethany Baptist at a young age and knew the Lord was calling him to be a minister. After serving in the National Guard in the infantry and physical cadre from 2002 to 2008, he attended God’s Bible School and College in Cincinnati. He has earned an associate degree in Bible and theology and a Bachelor of Arts in ministerial education.

He and Trish, his bride and partner in the ministry for 12 years, have a son, William, and a daughter, Kathryn.

Payne, the church’s new youth pastor, is a 1979 graduate of Austin High School and 1983 graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. In 2013, he graduated from the Church Leadership Institute at Franklin College.

On Nov. 16, 2014, he was licensed in the ministry by Bethany Baptist. He is married to Melissa Kallembach Payne.
