Rev. Cecil Bowling, 78, of Medora, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Bowling was a former pastor for 35 years at Midway Apostolic Church in Medora and was a current member of the First Pentecostal Church of Brownstown. Mr. Bowling retired from Milestone Construction after 30 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting rabbits and squirrels, and trading dogs.

Born on March 29, 1939, in Clay County, Kentucky, he was the son of Green and Ollie Mae Gilbert Bowling, both of whom preceded him in death. On September 8, 1958, he married Mary Brittain and she preceded him in death in 2013.

Survivors include three daughters: Kimberly (Jack) Burnette of Bedford, Verta (Tom) McComas of Trenton, Ohio and Sophia Hedrick of Medora; one brother, Ledford Bowling of Burning Springs, Kentucky; two sisters: Nora (Clinton) Davidson of Hamilton, Ohio, and Ezell (Louis) DeMoss of Florida; 11 grandchildren: Jason Shouse, Ashley Haley, Tonya Malcom, Alisha Helton, Kendra Wilkins, Josh Burnette, Korey Hedrick, Thomas McComas, Jr., Ronnie Hedrick, Aaron Wilkins, and LouAnn Fuller; and 26 great grandchildren.

Mr. Bowling was also preceded in death by three sisters: Verta Langdon, Bertha Javery, and Opal Hibbard; one brother, Gillis Bowling; one son-in-law, Ron Hedrick; and one grandson, Dakota Burnette.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with W. L. Kaufman and Ron Cox officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment will be at White River Valley Cemetery, Medora.

Memorials may be given to First Pentecostal Church of Brownstown.
