PHOENIX — Firefighters were dispatched overnight to rescue a hiker who got stuck on Papago Mountain.
Phoenix Fire Capt. Rob McDade says two men started hiking up the trail at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and that one of them got trapped on a ledge near the top of the mountain early Thursday morning.
McDade says a helicopter located the trapped hiker and that two teams of Phoenix and Tempe firefighters reached the hiker, removed him from the ledge and walked him down to the bottom.
The hiker wasn’t injured.
