NEW YORK — Police in New York City are searching for a suspect who fatally shot a man outside a housing complex.

The Daily News reports the shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. Police say 25-year-old Dawud Escort was shot while he was with his girlfriend inside the lobby of the Unity Plaza Houses.

Police say the victim suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and arm. Authorities say Escort ran to his home in the complex and collapsed in a lobby. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died.

No suspects have been identified. An investigation continues.
