Man found dead in house that burned

Firefighters responding to a report of a mobile home fire early Wednesday morning found a 32-year-old man dead after the fire was put out, police report.

An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death of Matthew M. Loper, according to a news release from Lt. Mike Mowery with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department. The time and place of that autopsy has not been released.

Loper was found dead inside the mobile home at 2910 E. County Road 200N after the fire, reported at 4:28 a.m. Wednesday.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office with assistance from the Indiana State Police are investigating the cause of the fire at the home where Loper lived and his death.

Officers with the sheriff’s department responded to the report of the fire along with firefighters from Campbell Township Volunteer Fire Department and North Vernon Fire Department.
