ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Authorities say a student at a South Carolina university has been shot and killed at an apartment complex near campus by a fellow student.

Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Maj. Rene Williams told The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg that no charges have been filed as investigators are trying to figure out what led to the shooting between roommates near Claflin University around 10:15 a.m. Friday.

Authorities identified the student killed as Dravious Terry, a senior business major from Greenville.

Claflin and nearby South Carolina State University were both briefly placed on lockdown until authorities confirmed they found the man they think killed Terry.

Claflin University is the oldest historically black university in South Carolina. The private school has an enrollment of about 2,000 students.
