GEORGIA, Vt. — Vermont State Police say a driver who was stopped for speeding on Interstate 89 threw punches and tried to strangle troopers.

Police on Monday night arrested 36-year-old Bradley Therrien, of Georgia, on charges of aggravated assault on law enforcement; careless and negligent operation; resisting arrest; and reckless endangerment.

Police said Therrien was traveling at 97 miles an hour when he was stopped.
