Two injured in wreck Friday north of Seymour

Two Bartholomew County men were hospitalized Friday night after sustaining injuries when they were trapped inside a vehicle that rolled onto its side north of Seymour.

Gerald Wade Jr., 53, of Columbus was flown by StatFlight to I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a wreck involving the 1997 Toyota 4 Runner he was driving south in the 9000 block of State Road 11, according to a news release from Jackson County Officer Brad Barker.

A passenger in Wade’s vehicle, 49-year-old Mark Blewett of Columbus was first taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour for treatment of his injuries, but later was transferred to Methodist.

Barker said when he arrived at the scene of the wreck, reported at 6:48 p.m., he found Wade’s vehicle on its side in a bean field and both menĀ  standing inside the vehicle.

Barker said he broke a window of the vehicle after the men said they couldn’t get out of it.

The men were then able to climb out of the vehicle, Barker.

Both were men were treated by Jackson County Emergency Medical Services personnel before being hospitalized.
