GIRLS BASKETBALL

Cougars top Spartans

SHELBYVILLE

Trinity Lutheran won its third straight game by posting a 65-46 victory at Southwestern (Shelbyville) on Saturday.

The Cougars (5-1) led 19-10 after eight minutes and 37-25 at the half.

Trinity would also outscore the Spartans in both the third and fourth quarters.

Piper Acton led the Cougars with 17 points, with four 3-pointers, Sydney Jaynes added 13 and Abby Hackman scored 12.

Hackman led the Cougars on the boards, pulling down 10 of the team’s 29 rebounds.

Trinity will play at Edinburgh at Thursday.

Hornets fall to Lancers

EDINBURGH

Edinburgh held Medora to eight points or fewer in each quarter to come away with a 61-20 win on Saturday.

The Hornets trailed 27-11 at intermission, and scored just nine points in the second half.

Medora scored one point in the fourth quarter.

Lillian Hatfield led the Hornets with 15 points.

The Hornets will host Crothersville on Dec. 5.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Tigers fall in OT

ORLEANS

Orleans outscored Crothersville 9-5 in overtime for a 50-46 victory on Saturday.

The teams were tied at 13 at the end of the first quarter before the Tigers (1-1) went up 21-20 at the break.

The Bulldogs (1-0) re-tied the game at 34-34 going into the fourth quarter.

After both teams scored seven points in the final eight minutes of regulation, the Bulldogs got the edge in extra time.

Josh Thomas led the Tigers with 14 points and nine rebounds.

The Tigers were called for 31 fouls, with three players fouling-out, to the Bulldogs’ 19 infringements.

Crothersville will host Medora on Friday.
