Dorothy Edna Shaneyfelt, 88, of Crothersville passed away at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg.
Born Nov. 6, 1929, in Attalla, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late William Dalphus Smith and Jessie Dixon Smith Rollins.
On Dec. 18, 1954 in Huntsville, Alabama, she married Henry Buford Shaneyfelt, who passed away Sept.12, 2002.
Dorothy retired from the former U.S. Shoe Corp. in Crothersville. She lived for the Lord and was a member of Austin Church of Christ, where she enjoyed attending and singing church songs.
Dorothy also loved her family and spending time with all of them. She enjoyed fishing, painting, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family, who she loved.
Survivors include four children, Angel (John) Spencer of Jefferson County, Lisa (Earl) Smith of Scott County, Barbara Bush of Jackson County and Randall Shaneyfelt of Scott County; four grandchildren, Christopher Smith, James Smith, Scotty Smith and Cristy Schmitter, eight great-grandchildren, Arlie Smith, Cheyenne Smith, Scotty Smith Jr., Henry Smith, Ashton Bush, Jasper Vernon, Miley Bush and Stefani Morris Bush; five siblings, Jack (Patricia) Smith of Guntersville, Alabama, Ralph Smith of Huntsville, Alabama, Shirley (Jerry) Vaughn of Guntersville, Alabama, Ruby (Jimmy) Chambers of Section, Alabama, and Nellie (Tom) Lanford of Union Grove, Alabama; and her foster family who she loved dearly, Sherril, Ferrill, Ed, Judy and Barb Street.
She also was preceded in death by her siblings, Charlie Smith, Mortimer Smith, Louvenia Paradice and Josephine Redmond; and a grandson, Gregory Allen Bush.
The funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
