VANCOUVER, Wash. — Two Washington state residents face felony drug possession and delivery charges after Oregon State Police seized 6.6 pounds (3 kilograms) of heroin and 2.2 pounds (1 kilogram) of cocaine from a vehicle they were in.

The Columbian reports that the 44-year-olds Adam Tyler Smith and Bonita Alvarado were booked Monday in the Jackson County Jail and released Wednesday.

The vehicle they were in was pulled over near the California-Oregon border. Police say the pair was traveling from Los Angeles to Seattle.

Court documents state that Smith told police he was paid to assist with transporting the drugs.

Police found the heroin, cocaine, $1,680 in cash and a small amount of methamphetamine in the vehicle.
