BURRILLVILLE, R.I. — A Rhode Island animal welfare organization is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the person caught on surveillance video killing a turkey with a baseball bat.

The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals calls it a “malicious killing.”

The organization says the methods seen in the video from Burrillville “do not align with acceptable methods of humane slaughter or euthanasia.”

Earl Newman of the RISPCA tells WJAR-TV the killing of animals should be done without causing unnecessary pain and suffering.

The RISPCA asks anyone with information about the killing to contact them.
