BALTIMORE — Baltimore police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a volunteer firefighter inside his apartment.

Daniel Green of Norrisville has been arrested by detectives after they interviewed witnesses, viewed video footage and scoured physical evidence in the home of Jon Hickey.

Hickey was found fatally shot last week in his Baltimore apartment by police conducting a well-being check.

He had lived in Baltimore for about five years, and had just been accepted into the Baltimore City Fire Academy.

Police say Green has been charged with first degree murder and is waiting to see a court commissioner. It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.

The arrest was announced in a Wednesday police statement.
