Service to remember lost loved ones

Members of Southern Indiana Compassionate Friends will participate in the 21st annual Worldwide Candle Lighting to honor the memory of all sons and daughters, brothers and sisters and grandchildren who have died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Vienna Baptist Church.

The program will feature poems, music, candle lighting, refreshments and social time.

All parents, grandparents, family members and friends are invited to attend the event at the church at 11 Leota Road, Scottsburg. Attendees are encouraged to bring a framed photo of their child/grandchild or something of remembrance to place on the memory table.

They also may bring a snack to share and their Compassionate Friends votive (one will be provided for those who do not have one).

By lighting the candles, there will be a moment of commemoration throughout the world to honor the memory of all children gone too soon.

The Compassionate Friends’ Worldwide Candle Lighting started in the United States in 1997 as a small internet observance but has since swelled in numbers as word has spread throughout the world of the remembrance of children who have died but will never be forgotten.
