Columbus City Band performing at Central Christian Church

The Columbus City Band will ring in the holiday season at 2 p.m. Sunday in Seymour.

The Sounds of the Season and Christmas Classics performance will be at Central Christian Church, 1434 W. Second St.

The program will include Christmas Classics, a selection of carol classics arranged for wind band; “Sleepers Wake,” a chorale prelude of advent season, by Bach; “Pat-A-Pan,” arranged by Mannheim Steamroller; “The Holly and the Ivy”; “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson; “Jesus, Jesus, Rest Your Head,” an Appalachian carol; “When St. Nick Comes Marching in,” a Dixieland treatment of “Up On the Housetop”; “Sounds of the Season”; and “A Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson, during which the audience may sing or whistle along.

The Columbus City Band, formed in 1843, includes several Jackson County musicians.

The concert is free, but a goodwill offering will be accepted.
