Lakeland- Jayne Nierman of Lakeland went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. She passed peacefully at her home with her family present following a brave battle with cancer.

Jayne was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 28th, 1926, the third of seven daughters, to Earl and Cora Beldon. When she was still a young girl, the family moved to Tampico, Indiana. She grew up and graduated from high school there.

She married Harlan Nierman of Brownstown, Indiana on December 27th, 1947. She earned her teaching degree from Indiana State Teachers College in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1948.

She taught school in West Lafayette, Indiana while Harlan was studying Electrical Engineering at Purdue University following his service in the US Marine Corp during World War II. Following his graduation from Purdue, his Engineering career took them across Indiana and Ohio and eventually led them to settle in Lakeland, Florida in 1966.

Jayne was an active member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakeland where she taught kindergarten for several years, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and the Bethel Bible Series. She also sang in the choir, played in the hand bell choir, was a member of Dorcas Women’s Circle and was involved in many other volunteer activities. She enjoyed traveling and volunteering at the Lighthouse Ministries H.O.P.E. Center.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harlan. She is survived by her children, Janice Keenan (Jim) of Boulder, Colorado, daughter Pamela Nierman of Lakeland, son David Nierman (Shelly) of Sarasota, sister Earline Cunningham of Sellersburg, Indiana, sister Loretta Hoevener of Brownstown, Indiana, and one grandson, Robert Keenan.
