Cougars fall to Spartans

Trinity Lutheran fell behind by double-digits early, and couldn’t dig themselves out of a 14-point first quarter deficit, as they fell to Southwestern (Shelbyville) 82-63 on Friday.

The Spartans built a 27-13 lead by the end of the first quarter and led 47-37 advantage by halftime.

Shelbyville outscored Trinity 14-8 in the third quarter and 21-18 in the final eight minutes of play.

AJ Goecker led the Cougars with 19 points and Trent Shoemaker scored 13.

Trinity made seven 3-pointers in the contest.

The Cougars (1-4) will travel to West Washington tonight.

Blackhawks beat Tigers

Springs Valley used a second quarter surge to propel past Crothersville 73-52 on Friday.

The Blackhawks led 15-11 after one quarter before outscoring the Tigers 23-12 before the half to lead 38-23.

Valley (4-0) outscored Crothersville (3-2) by one point in the third quarter before holding the Tigers to 11 points in the fourth.

Dylan Wilson led the Tigers with 19 points and Logan Brewer scored 15.

Crothersville (3-2) will travel to Borden tonight for a Southern Athletic Conference contest.
