North Vernon call for medical assistance ends in two arrests

NORTH VERNON – North Vernon police officers sent to a call in the 100 block of Greensburg Street for medical assistance made two arrests after noticing drug paraphernalia in the home.

Officers Wes Thayer and Isaac Barkes were sent to the home at 3 a.m. Sunday, said Sgt. Andrew Richmond, North Vernon Police Department spokesman.

Police obtained a search warrant and found several tied-off plastic bags containing a white crystal substance, multiple bags containing prescription pills separated for individual sale, empty corner bags and a large number of syringes and other paraphernalia items, Richmond said.

Police arrested Jacqueline D. Neal, 39, and Christopher M. Asbury, 25, both of North Vernon, on preliminary felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a syringe, Richmond said.

Neal is being held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $3,155 bond, jail officials said. Asbury is being held at the jail in lieu of $1,055 bond, jail officials said.
