Shirley E. Gay, 70, of Brownstown passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at her home surrounded by family.

Born Oct. 28, 1947, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Woodrow and Bernice Cockrum Mantz.

On July 15, 1966, at Tampico Baptist Church, Shirley married the love of her life, George Wayne “Bud” Gay.

Shirley was a member of Surprise Christian Church, and she enjoyed babysitting and shopping, especially Traderbakers and Hobby Lobby. Her No. 1 love was her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Christina (Mike) Ritz of Vallonia, Kimberly (Tedd) Stucker of Brownstown and Kerri Allman of Brownstown; sister, Roberta (Richard) Bane of Brownstown; brother-in-law, John (Peggy) Gay of Seymour; and sister-in-law, Jean (Lloyd) Meyer of White Creek, and Nancy Lucas and Lena Gay, all of Seymour. Shirley also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, George Wayne Gay Jr.; brother, George Mantz; and sister, Juanita Baughman.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour with Pastor Rick Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Acme Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made at the funeral home to Schneck Medical Center Hospice.
