Juniors recognized as Rising Stars

Eight members of the Class of 2019 who attend local high schools have been recognized as Rising Stars of Indiana.

The juniors from Trinity Lutheran High School are Nathaniel Bauman, Megan Pottschmidt, Abigail Schult and Mark Shoemaker.

The juniors from Seymour High School are Tess Allman, Luke Champ, Michael Hodge and Payton Reasoner.

In the second year of the recognition program, 1,025 high school juniors from 265 schools have been honored.

The Indiana Association of School Principals presents the program as a complement to the Indiana Academic All-Stars program for high school seniors, which is in its 32nd year.

Each Indiana high school was invited to recognize up to four students currently in the 11th grade based on their academic achievement.

Each student received an email with a note of congratulations, and a certificate of achievement will be sent to the person who submitted the nominations from each school to give to the students.

At a later date, the program’s college and university sponsors will receive a list of the students who indicated an interest in their school and the possible fields of study noted on their submission form.

The IASP, through its Department of Student Programs, provides extracurricular activities for students in grades 4 through 12. During the 2016-17 school year, more than 41,000 students representing every Indiana county participated in IASP-sponsored activities. For information, visit iasp.org.
