Danny Bill Carr, 87, of Westport, passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Kindred Transitional Care Center in Columbus.

He was born on May 8, 1930 in Hamilton County, the son of Noah David and Lola Edith (Fitch) Carr. Danny has been a Westport resident for the majority of his life. He retired from Mitchell & Starks Construction Co. and enjoyed making concrete lawn ornaments.

He married Rita C. Maple on October 24, 1970 in Greensburg. She preceded him in death on December 29, 1995.

He is survived by his daughters, Dottie Jean Harris of Westport, Susan Jane Carr of New Albany and Linda Carr of Scottsburg; son, Albert Carr of Nashville; stepdaughters, Myra Hankins of Lapel, Jackie Day and Dee Dee Christie, all of North Vernon; stepson, Tim Welter of North Vernon; brother, Paul L. Carr of Columbus; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister, Pauline Lavon Schwering and stepchildren, Melvin Welter & Donna Webster.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Burial will be at the Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
