Jackson County Guardian ad Litem/Court Appointed Special Advocate’s sixth annual mystery dinner theater will be Jan. 20 at The Pines Evergreen Room south of Seymour.

“The Curse of the Tiki,” a you-solve-it mystery dinner theater, will feature a cast of local “celebrities” and give attendees a chance to solve the murder mystery to win the $250 first-place prize.

Tickets need to be purchased in advance by Jan. 12 and are available at Jackson County GAL/CASA, 113 N. Chestnut St., Suite 305, Seymour. They also may be purchased by calling 812-569-2598.

Tickets are $30 per person or corporate tables are available. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and dinner is at 6:30 p.m. There also will be a silent auction throughout the evening, and a cash bar will be available.

Jackson County GAL/CASA is a nonprofit volunteer-powered program that provides advocacy to child victims of abuse and neglect to ensure they remain at the forefront of the court proceedings and find a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.

The organization currently has 47 volunteers and staff giving a voice to more than 100 children in Jackson County; however, the wait list continues to grow, as 75 children are waiting for a CASA volunteer.

If you have five to 10 hours per month to give an abused or neglected child a voice, you can become a CASA volunteer.

For information on the mystery dinner theater or becoming a CASA volunteer, contact Deena Personett at 812-569-2598 or email [email protected].
