CONCORD, N.H. — Police departments in three New Hampshire communities are sharing $500,000 in federal funds from the Department of Justice to retain and hire positions in community policing.
Lebanon is receiving $250,000, and Farmington and Laconia both are getting $125,000.
In Farmington, Police Chief John Drury says the grant should guarantee at least four more years of providing a school resource officer to help students, faculty and others discuss drug addiction and other subjects.
The grants were announced Thursday by Democratic Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan.
