HATTIESBURG, Miss. — A neighbor of a restaurant where six people were shot says it’s a trouble spot.

Christina McClelland tells WDAM-TV that she had contacted La Fiesta Brava and Hattiesburg officials to complain before Friday night’s shooting.

Gunfire injured six people, although all are expected to recover. A police officer and someone in a fleeing vehicle exchanged gunshots, but the officer wasn’t hit.

McClelland says when she heard the first round of gunshots, she thought they were fireworks. It wasn’t until she heard the second round that she knew different.

Four of the six injured are from Laurel, Ellisville and Waynesboro.

Hattiesburg police have not named any suspects in the shooting.

McClelland says her neighborhood, near the University of Southern Mississippi, is plagued by strangers wandering around and fighting.
