Owls finish runners-up at tourney

Seymour went 4-1 to finish runners-up at the Brown County Six-Way Invitational on Saturday.

The Owls defeated North Putnam (40-36), Brown County (60-18), Northview (60-24) and Whiteland (43-27).

The lone Seymour loss of the day came to Jasper (39-27).

“We had 3 forfeits,” Owls coach Todd Weaver said. “It’s tough to win matches that way, but we managed to go 4-1 on the day. Giving Jasper 18 points proved too much in the finals.”

Seymour’s Isaiah Pichardo (106-pounds), Jake Kriete (152) and Zack Newton (160) all finished 5-0 on the day.

Owen Chandler (113), Brandon Penegar (145), Alejandro Sachinas (182), Kevin Corrales (195) and Gabe Ramirez all went 4-1 for the Owls.

The Owls will travel to Madison on Saturday for the Hoosier Hills Conference meet.
