Cynthia L. Barnett, 68, of Seymour, died at 4:55 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Cynthia was born February 16, 1949, in Greensburg, Indiana, the daughter of James and Virginia Andrews Conwell.

She graduated from Greensburg High School ~ Class of 1967. She was a teacher in Decatur County, Indiana; Huntsville, Alabama; Springs Valley Elementary School in French Lick, Indiana; B.C.S.C. Elementary School and Seymour High School. She retired from teaching in 2012 after 21 years of service. Cynthia enjoyed reading, playing piano and was very passionate about teaching. She was also a member of the Indiana State Teacher’s Association.

Survivors include her lifelong friend, Mary Clark; children, Jennifer (Billy) Shipman of West Baden, IN.; Michael Barnett of Plainfield, IN.; grandchildren, Harley Shipman, Bella Shipman and Dylan Shipman.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Rev. Marcus D. Speer officiating. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
