Free legal aid clinic offered at library

Legal Aid will provide a free clinic from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at the Jackson County Public Library, 303 W. Second St., Seymour.

The free clinics are offered to low-income residents. The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Program utilizes local attorneys who volunteer to offer free legal consultations and advice. Individuals coming to the clinic can expect a 10-minute consultation to answer general questions, offer legal information or receive limited pro se assistance or advice.

The clinic will be in person and be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Preregistration is not required.

Jackson County residents also may visit the monthly clinic Monday at the Legal Aid office in the Bartholomew County United Way Center, 1531 13th St., Suite G330, Columbus. Other clinics will be Feb. 26 and March 26.

Legal Aid is a nonprofit agency providing free civil legal services, layer referrals and domestic violence-related legal representation to low-income individuals in Pro Bono District I. Legal Aid serves Jackson, Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jennings, Johnson, Rush and Shelby counties.
