SPARTANBURG, S.C — Authorities in South Carolina say two people have been arrested in the death of a man.

Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright tells news outlets that 34-year-old Roy Gene Sutherland and 35-year-old and Amy Loftis Berridge were arrested and charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and murder.

Sutherland is accused of stabbing and beating Lanham Joseph Wood to death Saturday. Authorities say that Berridge was present.

Wright says the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma. Authorities have not determined a motive in the case.

News outlets did not report on if the accused have lawyers.
