Three Jackson County 4-H volunteers will educate youth on the 4-H shooting sports program during a callout meeting from 2 to 3 p.m. Jan. 21 in the half-conference room at the Jackson County Public Library, 303 W. Second St., Seymour.

The instructors are certified to offer rifle and shotgun programs in Jackson County. Ricky Eggersman is the county shooting sports coordinator and rifle instructor, Jeannie Redicker is certified to teach rifle and Tyler Gerometta is certified to teach shotgun.

The meeting is open to all Jackson County youth in Grades 3 through 12, regardless of their current involvement in the Jackson County 4-H program. Do not bring firearms to the meeting.

To register, call Purdue Extension Jackson County at 812-358-6101.

Additional volunteers are needed to carry out the program in Jackson County. Six disciplines are offered at the state level: archery, outdoor skills, muzzleloading, pistol, rifle and shotgun.

If you are an adult 18 or older interested in volunteering with one of these disciplines, contact Heather VonDielingen at 812-358-6101 or [email protected]. There is a volunteer application process, and volunteers are required to attend shooting sports training at Ross Camp in West Lafayette.
