CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A West Virginia city committee is planning an educational event about its response to homelessness.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports that “Facts and Fiction: A community discussion about homelessness in Charleston” is set for Feb. 27. The event is free and open to the public.

Homeless Taskforce member city Councilwoman Susie Salisbury says the event will have a panel discussion including local leaders from health and law enforcement agencies. Another panel will talk about city ordinances related to homelessness.

Taskforce chair Councilwoman Becky Ceperley says the committee had not considered including any homeless people in the discussion but that it should.

Salisbury says an outreach and educational campaign will be unveiled during the event, but didn’t explain many details about it.
