WARWICK, R.I. — The Community College of Rhode Island says a temporary lockdown following reports of a man with a holstered gun was likely caused by an armored car courier.
The Providence Journal reports the college said it matched the timing, location and description of the person to the courier who was visiting the Warwick campus bookstore.
The campus went into lockdown Monday afternoon as police spent more than an hour searching for a suspicious person. Students, staff and faculty were asked to shelter in place.
The school issued an all-clear on Twitter shortly after 1 p.m., and it says there was no active threat.
In a statement, the school says it will host a college-wide meeting this week for feedback and for future online safety trainings.
