MCCORMICK, S.C. — A man serving a life prison sentence for murder has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing an inmate in a South Carolina prison.
A state prosecutor said 48-year-old Henry Gordon was sentenced last week for the 2016 stabbing death of Michael Jones at the McCormick Correctional Institution. Prosecutor Rick Hubbard said Gordon pleaded guilty in court in McCormick last week.
Gordon was already serving a life sentence for a 1992 death in Richland County.
Hubbard says Gordon was eligible for parole as early as next year for the 1992 killing. Hubbard said parole is not possible on the second murder conviction.
Hubbard said Jones had been serving a prison sentence for convictions on forgery, shoplifting and illegally carry a pistol in North Charleston.
