Ruth E. Sherrill, 97, of Seymour, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018. She was born in Lawrence County on January 11, 1921 to the late Ellis “Wood” and Shirley (Norman) Murphy.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Friday from 4-8 pm and on Saturday from 12:30 until time of service.

Funeral services will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Reddington Christian Church on Saturday, February 17 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Tom Judd officiating. Burial will follow at Reddington Cemetery.

Mrs. Sherrill was a member of Reddington Christian Church. She was a lifetime member of TROA Auxiliary. She was also a member of Women’s Christian Missionaries Society and a volunteer at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown.

On October 21, 1942 she married Clyde Sherrill in Mitchell, Indiana. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1990.

She is survived by her children, David (Rita) Sherrill, Wayne (Beth) Sherrill and Dianna Caffee; grandchildren, Tony (Dina) Sherrill, Melissa (Stephen) Gwaltney, Jennifer (Rick) Meyer, Veronica Short, Tawne (Jason) Davis and Anastasia Caffee; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brothers, Dean (Linda) Murphy and Gene (Janet) Murphy; and sister, Geneva (Edward) Hitchcock.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Troy Sherrill; brothers, Bill Murphy, Ervin Murphy and Everett Murphy; and sisters, Lorene Branaman, Gairlean Fish and Lucille Rogers.
