A man involved in an investigation of sexual misconduct with a 14-year-old Bartholomew County girl was arrested Tuesday morning, police report.

Ryan Andrew Allen, 22, of Salem, faces two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor in connection with a joint investigation involving the Indiana State Police and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department.

That investigation began Monday when the girl’s parents reported she had gone missing Saturday but came home Sunday, according to a report from Sgt. Jerry Goodin with the Indiana State Police Sellersburg Post.

Goodin said the investigation showed the girl allegedly ran away from home with Allen after he made arrangements to meet her through Facebook.

After spending the night with the girl, Allen returned her home Sunday, Goodin said.

When she returned home, the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department was contacted, which in turn contacted detectives with the state police to assist them in Washington County.

After speaking with Allen on Tuesday, the detective with the state police arrested him.

Goodin said Allen allegedly knew the girl was 14.

Allen was booked into the Washington County Jail at 10:06 a.m. Tuesday pending his initial court appearance.
