Thomas E. Sorley, 53, CIO/Deputy Director Information Technology Public Safety for the City of Houston, TX and national Chair of the Public Safety Advisory Committee FirstNet (representative of the US Conference of Mayors) passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2018. He was a native of Seymour, IN.

Tom formerly was the Public Safety Communications Manager for Orange County Florida. He served both Florida and Texas chapters of the Association of Public-Safety

Communications Officials international. He also served his nation by representing the USCM as member of US Department of Homeland Security’s SAFECOM Executive Committee. He was long-time chair of the National Public Safety Telecommunications Council’s Technology and Broadband Committee before resigning when appointed Chair of PSAC FirstNet. He served on many national and international committees.

Tom was a recipient of the Richard Demello Award which is presented to one individual who has demonstrated the highest levels of personal and professional conduct and performance in the local, state, and national public safety communications arena.

Tom’s Happiness is a Choice and Life Is Good lifestyle was a great impact on every life he touched.

There will be a local memorial service February 25, 2:00 P.M. at the Brownstown Christian Church on West Spring St., Brownstown IN.
